America's Fallen Hero's
SGM Ax S.MoraviaAx Sarah Moravia was born in the Czech Republic on 29 May, 2007. He was raised and trained by Petr Pawlica before being purchased by Von Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana in 2009. He was then purchased by 7th Special Forces Group SOFMPC in 2010, where he was paired with his new handler, SFC Chris Corbin. SGM Ax completed the Basic Handlers Course at Von Liche Kennels with his handler, as well as the Advanced Certification Course at 7th SFG and Pre Mission Training at Ft Bragg, NC. SGM Ax was then deployed to the Shindand District in the Herat Province of Afghanistan in August 2010, as a K-9 Attachment to SFODA 7315. Where he completed 25 missions with ODA 7315 and their Afghan Commando counterparts. SGM Ax and his handler, SFC Chris Corbin were injured by an Improvised Explosive Device on 17 Feb, 2011. SGM Ax received minor injuries, and his handler was amputated below the knee on both legs, and they were both redeployed back to the US. SGM Ax greatly assisted in his handlers quick recovery and subsequent promotion to Master Sgt. This was highlighted on a “60 Minutes” episode, Titled “Bomb Sniffing Dogs: America’s Elite Canines” (see link below). On 18 Feb, 2014 both SGM Ax and MSG Chris Corbin were retired from active duty service, and traveled the country extensively. SGM Ax was also the inspiration for the “24/7 Battle Buddies” service dog initiative under Feherty’s Troops First Foundation. SGM Ax succumbed to an old war wound to his lower back, resulting in the loss of control over his rear legs, and was laid to rest 19 November, 2021. He is buried 5 feet in front of MSG (ret) Chris Corbin’s flagpole, securing his property in Autryville, NC. and performing overwatch on the breeding, raising, training and placing of future Service Dogs, under the Train N Style banner. His name lives on under the AxKC, a KNPV line of Dutch Shepherds. |
